Sunday 7th February - walks ***** - Two snowy prom walks at Felixstowe – snowed all day and breezy:).

With the weathermen saying that the East Coast was going to take the brunt of days of cold weather and snow we were disappointed to wake up here in Felixstowe with absolutely none:( So we had a bit of a lay in reading with the kittens getting their first glimpse of the white stuff as it started to snow with a good NE wind blowing too, really glad I don’t have to go to work in this! My brand-new camera and lens arrived yesterday and I was keen to take it out, shame it was actually snowing but it is water resistant and well worth the risk. Mag got the salopettes down from the loft, this will be the only snow they see this year and I set off for a walk down to the prom at ten, sadly Mag decided to stay at home, I really missed her too. It is great to see Felixstowe covered in white as we don’t get much snow here on the coast as I walked towards the pier in a near blizzard as a cameraman was filming on the beach, I later learned that Sky was here filming ‘The Best from the East 2’. I then turned into the wind and headed towards The Fludgers into the wind which was not so pleasant snapping pics as I went, quickly taking my camera out before returning it down my coat! It was great to see so many families out enjoying the snow with loads of sledges although several kids had to be persuaded that snow was cool and there were some tears! The rock groynes looked good with a covering of snow as did the lovely spa gardens. I then headed up to the top of the cliff for to return trip home getting some nice pics on the way. I was out for an hour and had a great time not in the slightest bit cold, no gloves were required. I then sorted out my pics before posting them on ‘Visit Felixstowe’ a Facebook site, sending some to the local paper as will as ITV weather while enjoying my porridge:)

Walk two.

As Mag had missed out in the morning, we did it all again, walking along the cliff top first and back along the prom. There were not so many people about this time but we really enjoyed being out in the snow as usually we would be off to the French mountains but not this year:( We spotted a robin, dunnock, blackbird and pigeon in the spa gardens where someone had put up a couple of bird feeders:) There were still a few kids about on sledges or sliding down the steep spa gardens and then returned home for a cuppa and cake, yum yum. What a top day, fun was had by all!

PS - highlight of the day, a sparrow hawk lands on our neighbors van :)
